The third chapel on the left side was originally dedicated to the Crucifixion, which is reflected in the subject of the side paintings. The former altarpiece, a Lanfranco painting that was done in 1646, depicted the Crucifixion, which now hangs in the old convent building, today's University "Angelicum".
