The altar itself is made from a sarcophagus in red cottanello marble showing the Pamphilj dove, and is by Rainaldi. Above the trompe l'oeil vault are a pair of angels carrying the symbols of martyrdom (palm branch and crown), and these were also executed by Ercole Ferrata.
