Santa Sabina all'Aventino

This narthex, dating from the modifications of 1208-1222, is the surviving range of a courtyard surrounded by colonnaded porticoes. There are eight surviving ancient columns of this in the narthex, four spirally fluted columns in yellow marble and four plain columns in granite.
