Santa Prassede all'Esquilino

< previous > < index > < next >
The church's original basilical plan, with a nave of twelve bays separated from two side aisles eleven ancient columns on each side, has been obscured by the need to strengthen the structure. Hence, the nave is now divided into four equal portions by truss arches, and these spring from massive pillars which enclose six of the columns.
