The design of the pronaos raises a problem that has exercised analysts since the 16th century. Over the roof of the portico the front wall of the rectangular entrance block has a triangular motif like a ghost pediment, the same size as the real one below. The reason for this seems to be that the columns used were too short for the initial design.
