The first altar on the left is adorned with two porphyry columns and dedicatd to Sts. Stephen and Lawrence, deacons and martyrs. The altarpiece of the saints is by Giuseppe Ghezzi, of 1676. He was a prominent member of the Accademia di San Luca, and so was a well-known contemporary artist in Rome.
