The triumphal arch is supported by a pair of magnificent monolithic porphyry columns originally from the Eastern Desert in Egypt. They are claimed to be the largest surviving intact porphyry columns in Rome. The keystone of the arch contains the name of the person who restored the church in the 17th century: Scipione Cardinal Borghese.
