The first chapel on the right is dedicated to St Catherine of Alexandria, who is popular in Portugal. The chapel has been re-ordered at least twice. At some stage the original 17th century altar was dismantled and re-erected, and the walls revetted with polychrome marble. This work was probably done in the 18th century.
