The frescoes in the central nave were painted in the mid 19th century by Pietro Gagliardi. The nave walls above the arcades have twelve depictions of a cycle is inspired by the Glorification of Mary, and between the windows above are six women characters from the Old Testament.

On the arcade pillars are five prophets. The fresco of Isaiah was painted by Raphael.
